| Route Information Schedule of Events: 7:00 am Registration Opens 8:00 am Ride Start Time for Metric Century 9:00 am Ride Start Time for Metric 1/2 Century and 15 Mile Ride 10:00 am Registration Closes for all rides 1-4 pm Hawaiian BBQ 3:30 pm All Courses Swept Routes The Metric Century has over 6,000 feet of elevation and will begin with beautiful canopies of oak trees along Live Oak road,then continue through the winding roads of Rainbow and up majestic Couser Canyon, a cycling favorite. The Circle R Avenue climb will prove to be a worthy challenge, but riders will be rewarded with spectacular views and a SAG stop not far away. The course continues through the valleys and horse fields of Bonsall, then a descent down Old HWY 395 before heading back to Live Oak Park to the finish and festivities. Click Here for Profile The Metric Half Century is a beautiful ride with over 3,200 feet of elevation, including Couser Canyon with its windy roads and spectacular scenery. The views continue up through West Lilac with three SAG Stops along the course. A fast descent down Old Hwy 395 before the last few climbs back to Live Oak Park to the finish and festivities. Click Here for Profile The 15 mile ride has 1,300 feet of elevation and is a scenic route for those looking for a shorter, but still challenging ride. The ride includes Live oak Road and continues through the agricultural community of Rainbow before returning into the hills of Fallbrook and back to Live oak Park to the finish and food! Course Photos BRDAA Rating Scale The Bicycle Ride Directors’ Association of America (BRDAA) has developed the ride difficulty rating scale described below. The Metric Century is rated difficult ***** The Metric Half Century is rated moderate **** Safety and Rules Helmets are required and all traffic laws must be obeyed. Ride as close to the right side as possible and within the bicycle lane wherever possible. Ride in single file. All roads are open to regular traffic so please take extra precaution. It is recommended each rider bring (2) water bottles, a tube, patch kit, tire levers, pump, a spare tire and appropriate clothing for the weather. Support The course will be marked at each turn. The CHP and Sheriff's Dept. will be on the course to direct traffic at key intersections. Be sure to come to a complete stop at all traffic signals and stop signs not controlled by law enforcement. There will be a medical aid station at Live Oak Park, roving mechanical bike support to assist when needed or to transport stranded cyclist back to the park. Fallbrook’s hand held radio club will be providing communication over the entire course and there will be several SAG stops set up along each route with water, food and refreshments. |
